To sister Inday, Sandy and the rest who sent their
encouragement in private (txt messages and emails) - I am
humbled with your expression of support in this crusade
against illegal gambling in Padada. you are the kind of
people who make a stand and therefore will make a
difference. Be assured that this effort will not be limited
to information campaign lang. Those responsible for its
massive proliferation in our town should be held answerable
to the public. Those whom we trust our welfare yet look away
from their mandated responsibilities shall be held liable.
Those who take undue advantage over the weak moral
foundation of our people shall suffer the consequence of
their actions - especially those who are in public service -
law enforcers or elected local government officials.
I should make it clear that I am spearheading this campaign
because of some personal concerns. Some of you may get a
wrong signal as to why I am doing this - especially that
this is election period. I categorically declare that I AM
NOT RUNNING FOR ANY POSITION IN THIS COMING ELECTION. I have
never dreamed nor will ever dream of becoming a public
official in Padada. I can contribute more to public service
by remaining with the Philippine Army until I retire in the
next 11 years. Likewise, I am not endorsing any candidate in
this coming election. 2 of the current mayoralty candidates
are my boyhood friends and classmates in elementary and high
school. the other candidate is also a good friend and long
acquaintance. All have their own strengths and weaknesses but
I leave their political future to the voting public. When
one of them is elevated to the position of mayor of our town
and will support/allow illegal gambling (especially last 2)
to operate then he will become fair target of my campaign.
To those who will be gravely affected with this effort, I
suggest lets start doing things right. Too much damage have
been made. Daghan na taga padada na aswang sa last 2. If you
consider me and those who support me as obstacle to this
illegal and addictive activity then so be it. If you resort
to threat and intimidation or "other means" that's no big
deal to me. In the kind of profession I'm in, risking my
life by deliberately putting it in harms way is as normal as
eating peanut butter.
God bless us all.
