PADADA WORLD YOUTH DAY VOLUNTEER IN SYDNEY
World Youth Day (WYD) is the largest youth event in the
world and was held in Sydney from Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20
July 2008.
WYD08 attracted 223,000 registered
pilgrims, including 110,000 from 170 nations making it the
largest event ever hosted in Australia.
The Diocese of Digos was represented by
Ann Athens Garrote who flew her way to Sydney as one of the
2000 volunteers of the said event. It was an overwhelming
experience for her meeting and working with people from
different parts of the world. Volunteers acted as marshals
to keep the flow and the orderliness of the whole event.
As gratitude for making the whole event a
success, the Archdiocese of Sydney personally invited the
volunteers for a Volunteer Thank You with His Holiness Pope
Benedict XVI to the delight of everyone.
The next World Youth Day as announced by
His Holiness Pope Benedict the XVI will be in Madrid, Spain
on the 20th of July 2011. ¡véale en Madrid!!!
