The Gawad Kalinga residents at
Paligue had been hoping that someday there would be a place
not only for worship but also a place to gather around
children, neighbors to share ideas, a place to ventilate
their problems be it personals, socials, marital and
financials.
On Sept. 2007 a group of MRA,
Mother Rivier Associates, visited the place and found it
very depressing yet challenging. The group started an
outreach program by teaching catechism and simple feeding
program every Sunday afternoon. Aside from that the MRA
managed to help provide safe drinking water by donating
rubber have enough for the PAWASCO to install a faucet at
the middle of the houses in which the residents pay only
P1.00 per container to the PAWASCO instead of P2.00 to a
private home located near the National Highway.
And most recently a catholic chapel
which was started March 5, 2008, was blessed and the first
mass was held on July 19, 2008. A mass wedding to the
mansibados and mass baptismal ceremony not only to children
but also some adults who needed the sacraments.
The project was made possible
through the efforts of the MRA with the guidance prayers and
encouragements of Fr. Cornelio Toraja, DCO, Sister Elnora R.
Taparan and all Pm Sisters.
And a big challenge is at hand not
only to the MRA but also to all Padada residents here and
also to those who are blessed and lucky to have better
opportunities in life.
We are blessed because although we
are not rich but then our children have better
opportunities, better lives, better jobs abroad and better
health care.
Look at the pictures, can we share
some ideas how to help them? We will be happy to hear from
all Padada folks, here and elsewhere in the world.
We first hope that the Gawad
Kalinga at Paligue, Padada will become a better community to
live, a place where everyone is happy and practice Christian
values.
As MRA’s we can help in some ways
and we should not forget that;
-
When we share unconditionally the
return are in folds.
-
Let’s help “Its takes a village to
raise a child”.
-
“Let’s gather all together and pass
on Hope”
Best Prayer & Best
Wishes,
Mrs. Jesusa A. Matas
MRA-Prefect
